WHAT TO WEAR - DRESSING FOR THE PART
Look "put together", clean and attractive. Wear clothing from your acting wardrobe that gives a hint or suggestion of the role for which you are auditioning, i.e. for a role as a doctor you might wear a sports jacket or a collared long-sleeve shirt and tie, with dress pants for men and a skirt for women, and no jeans. Wear your hair neat and be clean-shaven. Glasses could be a nice touch. Stay away from wearing a costume, like a white lab coat for the doctor. If you are a woman, for a 19th century librarian, a long skirt below the knee, a long-sleeve blouse that shows no cleavage, and character shoes, not contemporary high heels. Perhaps you would wear your hair up for this audition, and perhaps wear a pair of glasses. You can use any of these suggestions, or a combination of them... getting the picture? If you get a callback, you should wear the same thing that you wore to the first call. Sometimes the only way to remember that is to write it down in an Audition Diary (see BEFORE THE AUDITION). Keep track of all your auditions: what you wore and who you met. This will come in handy.
